Q: What kind of room is needed for a home theater system?

A: The truth is that the best home theaters are in dedicated rooms that are very dark, quiet and can hold a very large screen TV or, better yet, a projection screen. However, not every home has such a space, and every day we create fantastic home theater experiences in multi-purpose rooms, like Rec Rooms, Family Rooms, and Bonus Rooms.

Q: TV terms are confusing-- what is the best type of TV for a home theater?

A: The TV world is indeed a confusing and rapidly changing one. LCD, DLP, plasma, etc.-- there is no single best TV technology for all situations. At J.J. Vanderson, we carefully evaluate the room and viewing conditions, and then find the best technology solution and best value.

Q: What are the important elements of a home theater system?

A: It all starts with a big screen TV or projector; then a surround sound receiver or processor/amp combo; video sources (DVD, Hi-def cable, Hi-def satellite, HDTV antenna); a 5,6, or 7 speaker package; subwoofer; and an easy-to-use remote control. You might also consider lighting control, theater seating, and room acoustical treatment. And don't forget the popcorn.

Q: Will J.J. Vanderson install my existing AV equipment?

A: Yes, but we request that you make sure your existing components still have working remote controls and owner's manuals. If you are providing any interconnect cables they must be long enough for the cabinet conditions and allow us to leave a service-loop.
