Q:
Why do you
prefer to use hardwired systems over wireless?
A:
Wireless alarm systems are not a bad option, and we do
install many of them, but when it is possible to install
a wired system we prefer to do so. Wired systems are
generally more reliable, require less maintenance
(battery-replacement) and cost about the same.
Q:
Who services the system, and what do we do in case of
emergency or false alarm?
A:
Even
if your system is being monitored by the central
station, call J.J. Vanderson for all service issues. You
can call us 24-hours a day with problems or concerns. If
your system is monitored by the central station and an
alarm occurs, they will call your house first (to
determine whether it is an actual emergency or a false
alarm), then call your local police or fire department,
and then go through an emergency call list that you
provide (cell phone numbers, work numbers, neighbors,
friends, etc.).
Q:
Are false alarms a big problem?
A:
They
can be a big problem, but through good system design and
careful attention to detail we make every effort to
minimize the chances of false alarm problems.
Q:
Can I get a discount on my homeowner's insurance by
having an alarm system?
A:
Check
with your insurance company, as policies vary, but
usually people do get significant discounts by having
having an alarm system, and greater discounts by having
that alarm system monitored.
